About Principal Jon Baker
Jon Baker began his teaching career in the Glendale Unified School District in 1990. In 1992 he was selected as "Teacher of the Year" at Horace Mann Elementary School. In 1997 he became Assistant Principal for Monte Vista Elementary School, also in the Glendale District. Although he was born and raised in Glendale and enjoyed working for the Glendale District, Mr. Baker wanted to continue his educational career in the community where he lived, Santa Clarita.

In July 1998 Mr. Baker was hired by the Saugus Union School District and served as Assistant Principal at Rio Vista Elementary School. During his tenure at Rio Vista, he took one teacher and two students to Florida to watch the historic space shuttle launch that included John Glenn as a member of the Discovery crew.

In the year 2000 Mr. Baker was named Principal to Emblem Elementary School. He served three years at Emblem, then two years as Principal at James Foster, and then Principal at North Park for four more years. In 2009 Mr. Baker was selected as the Personnel Director for the Saugus District.

Mr. Baker is very excited to return as Principal to Emblem for the 2013-2014 school year when it re-opens as a STEM Academy.
